Volunteers from AID Bangalore and Sahaja Samruddha carried out an awareness drive on the hazardous health effects of Genetically Modified (GM) foods, right outside Forum mall in Koramangla.
AID Bangalore volunteers visited Zero Waste Management Centers in and around Vellore in January 2009. They visited 6 places in one day and had a first hand experience of "how waste can be turned into wealth" process which cleans the environment and reduces pollution. They learned about a model which is self-sustainable in truest sense. Here is a diary of what they have seen in Vellore.
For the 2008 floods of Bihar and Orissa, we collected relief materials - mainly used cloths - from all over Bangalore and dispatched them to our volunteers on the ground by rail. For Bihar, we also sent another consignment at the time of winter, emphasizing on warm clothing. In all, we sent over 180 cartons worth of relief materials. This involved running email campaigns in umpteen corporate offices and doing door to door drives in several apartments across the city.
